For now, the House of Nicole is small. But Fort Hood resident Nicole Burden has big dreams for Killeen's first late night talk show.
"I try to be a twist between the USO and 'The Mo'Nique Show,'" she said Wednesday during a taping in the lobby of Killeen's Holiday Inn. "(We need this) so that big names will want to come to Killeen, so that all eyes are on Killeen — and they should be."
Burden, 39, began taping "House of Nicole" about a year ago. She interviews local entertainers and promoters and, when she can, musicians who visit the area for concerts and to visit troops at Fort Hood. She posts videos of her shows about once each week on her Facebook page and on YouTube.
The Army spouse and mother of one with a day job in early childhood education receives no payment for her show. It's a labor of love that she hopes will eventually lead to a paid full-time gig as a talk show host.
