Musicians tuning up for Central Texas Music Festival

Musicians from across Texas and the East Coast are gearing up for a week of music performances in Copperas Cove, and they promise they won't disappoint.

The eighth annual Central Texas Music Festival is Monday and Tuesday and Thursday through Feb. 5 at Lea Ledger Auditorium in Copperas Cove. The lineup includes bands from Lampasas, Harker Heights, Katy, Brenham, Killeen and Temple, and special guests from Washington, D.C., and Virginia. The performances are free and open to the public.

"If you'll just come to the concerts, you're going to enjoy it," said Randy Kelley, band director at Copperas Cove High School. "All we need is an audience that'll be willing to sit and listen and get the word out that we've got some concerts going on free of charge right here in Central Texas."

The festival is a joint venture between The Band Room music store and the Copperas Cove Independent School District. Kelley said it has grown each year.
